In 1961 the KS bar tour started at Eisdiele and finished at Schumann's.
In between I remember a regular stop was at what I knew as Tanzhalle - where I once won a jive trophy with a certain Inge. This place had another name.
Also on sunny afternoons we would trek through the woods to a gasthaus
and sup the odd beer - Gala? The photos seem to show we all wore ties with our civvies.
If someone will kindly provide names for both the above it will help me sleep.
Hi Rodders, your Tanzhalle was probably The Deutches Haus and your Gasthaus for a Gala X was the Tetzelstein, Schlaff Gut! _________________ Langeleben Dec 1957- March 1959.

I believe the Dance Hall you have in mind was known as Beltz. Situated in the Market Place, opposite Kolmorgans camera shop. Beltz was the venue for the Squadron dances, (two, so that all could attend). It was following such an event that SSM Dick Sedman had his accident on the way home.
If I remember correctly Jim Husband was duty corporal that night. Summer 1960. Gawd that is a long time ago.!!!
My Königslutter oracle informs me that that establishment concerned was indeed in Marktstrasse, and was actually called "Die Oase" (the Oasis) and was run by a cove by the name of Beltz.
Years later it was renamed as the "Amtsgericht" (Courthouse) and the upstairs dance hall/disco was a favourite with the brutal and licentious soldiery on Saturday nights. The place burnt down in the late 1980s (an insurance scam, it was rumoured) and was rebuilt as a small shopping arcade, now empty. _________________ John Richardson
Young Gypo was well known in the upstairs dance hall/disco in the days before we were an 'item' - he used to wear a big hat and sunglasses up there and have a good dance oblivious to all those around him who didn't appreciate his dancing skills....I wish someone had taken photos!
