The new slimline Marlene is about to produce the third edition of our Listening Post, so now’s a good time to have this discussion. Initially about 50 of us had four buddies each, and although I can’t recall any formal agreement, there was definitely tactic agreement that we would send out copies for the first two editions, then review the situation. In my case, three of the four buddies have been in touch, two are now receiving their copies direct by email, one has decided having never served at Langeleben that they didn’t want it, the fourth I’ve heard nothing from. Since I was sending this last copy via the RSA secretary, I think now is an opportune time to refocus my efforts. Are there any members who so far haven’t received copies whom I can send to? All the best. Dave. _________________ Dave Thomas 2 Sqn 13 SR, '63-'66
I drew 4 blanks despite giving contact details and feel further attempts may fail.
However happy to try again with others if last Naafi lady at Langeleben lets me know for no.3 edition.
You have been great in keeping on top of your 'buddies' and the result has been very heartening indeed here at the Listening Post HQ
Strangely enough Ernie and I just this past 24 hours have been working on a letter to be distributed to all with e-mails which addresses the issue of non responsive buddies. Basically, nothing formal was ever drawn up as Dave rightly says, you are all simply volunteers paying for the cartridges, paper and post out of your own pocket and if after 2 or 3 issues you still haven't had a response no one could blame you for opting out. All Ernie and I ask is that you let us know so that we can investigate if needs be whether that member is still with us or whatever.
Also if anyone has 4 and through no fault of their own needs to go down to less numbers, please let us know so that we can allocate that member to another 'buddy' who has less (which Dave has kindly offered to do.)
As explained also in the letter you will receive is that the deadline for next copy is 16 November so I can complete the last week in November. It's going to be a good one with news of how to book on the next reunion (where you will get the opportunity to buy me a mineral water with lots of ice) and the DVD of the last reunion and much more.
