AA/ADAC/RACHi All, Things are a bit quiet at the moment, so perhaps now is a good time to ask for some information. A number of you drove over to Koningslutter last year, The First Mrs Thomas and I are hoping to do the same next May/June. May I ask how you got your vehicle roadside assistance organised?. While I was in BAOR I’m sure I was a member of ADAC, and of course I have AA membership for this country. How do I go about getting cover for up to a month for next year? All the best, Dave T.

I contacted AA (being a member) and they extended my cover to the rest of Europe, giving me contact numbers in Holland/Germany (English speaking) if required. The cover was only for the month we were over there and cost about £30 - this included vehicle recovery to the UK, overnight accommodation, car hire, free bratwurst and pommes etc.

Thanks Derek, Thanks for that. My AA membership is through my Bank (Lloyds/TSB) and is therefore a Group membership so I don't know if it will work the same as an individual membership, but it's got to be worth a try. Anyone else had any experience in this field??. All the best. Dave T.

AA/ADAC/RACDewi, we both bank with the same lot and I can vouch for their AA 'Recover Service'. A few months ago my wifes car commited' Hari Kiri' on the M6 twixt junctions 19 and 18. She could not find her Hyundai recovery details, so, remembering that as LTSB Platinum card holders we had AA RECOVERY I rang them and they were there within 20 minutes. I don't know why but I asked if this also applied within the EU and was assured it did.
If, however, you have to take out insurance let me recommend my breakdown company, Insurance Choice of Leamington Spa. They are brilliant, I have all my vehicle insurance throught them and they are 'so professional'.
If you are interested ring 0844 55 75 555 or e-mail at chrisn@insurancechoice.co.uk. The guy I deal with is Chris Noah, hence the Chris N butI think any of them will be equally as good. I know this sounds like an advert and in a way it is but just simply because I cannot fault them and this is something rare in these times

Hi Mike, Thanks for that, in fact I am only a Gold card holder, I’ll see if they are as accommodating, if not I may upgrade to Platinum. I trust that you are making your plans now, to be in Koningslutter next May/June, I’ve told the first Mrs Thomas that although you don’t drink you will be treating us to dinner in part recompense for all the bad things you’ve said about me. All the best. Dave T.

"AA/ADAC/RAC"Dewi, cariad, I am afraid that you will have to wipe away the tears (crocodile?) and shout 'Thank you Lord. The simple truth of the matter is, working for myself I just cannot afford to take time off. I have had just 7 days holiday since 1996 and I was dragged kicking and shouting to that, though I will admit I really enjoyed it.
I am a bit like Gyppo, I prefer to remember things and people as they were when I knew them. Not to let them see me as I am now, Shorep would have a heart attack and die laughing. Mmmmm?
Give my regards to anyone who knows me and above all make sure you enjoy yourselves. As for saying anything bad about you, hang your head in shame. If I call you the Hanham Hulk, feel free to call me the Fulford Bulk, or ow't tha' likes apart from Dad.
