CLOSURE OF BFPOs IN BAORIt is reported that it is the MoD’s intention to close the BFPO service in BAOR in Sep 2010. There is a petition to the PM at:-Click HERE calling for the closure to be cancelled. This petition was supported by the recent meeting of the RSA Central Committee. The Chairman RSA felt that the MoD’s plan was rather premature, as numerous service families in BAOR are still dependant upon their BFPO. It is asked that, if your members feel inclined, they support the petition. |

This is not quite what it seems. The plan is to cut completely 12 BFPOs that support NATO HQs and entities that come under their wing in that country. The BFPOs are: 6 -Lisbon 8 -Naples 26 – SHAPE 28 – Brunssum 49 – Brussels 50 – Stavanger
61 – Milan 62 – Valencia 63 - Norfolk VA 65 – Rome 109 – Ramstein 150 – Karup Not quite the end of BFPO in Germany, in fact only BFPO Ramstein is affected. (They should read the small print first before spreading alarm and despondency). |
