I was just wondering, but if the stone is going to be placed at the back of the lay by / bus stop, and it is English on one side and German on the other, which side will be facing the bushes?  Will there be room to move round the stone comfortably?  I just thought it would be a shame if in the fullness of time and the bushes were overgrown if only one side could be easily accessed.

I had the same worry Tom but the photos on the gallery foreshorten the distance from the foliage. We have to make certain that there is plenty of clearance and that the footings are clear of any tree roots.
It looks as though the actual erection will be done by the Konigslutter masonary school or a local German firm so we will try to arrange that one of our expat members will be on hand to organise actual placement.

Thanks for putting my mind at rest Ernie (it needs a lot of that  these days!)

I guess as long as we have/have had some meaningful discussion with the local authority, then all should be well in this regard.

When talking about the stone we should not forget Rusty's extraordinarily generous contribution re the transport. I don't think it could have gone as excess baggage and there certainly won't be room in the back of my car.

Being serious for a moment this enterprise is something that makes me feel very proud and honoured to be part of.
