guilt and regrets

As so often happens at this time, I start thinking about things I did and didn't do, some more serious than others. Some seemingly can never be forgotten in my experience and, perhaps, the Christian concept of seeking forgiveness has something to commend it.
As far as Langeleben is concerned I am still, more than 50 years later, embarrassed by my having joined in the 'persecution' of the chap from the Royal Ballet - his name escapes me for the moment - who we soon came to like and respect and 'Lili' Palmer whose life, he told me later, we had made an absolute misery. I then apologised to him but, why were we unable to accept anyone whose sexuality (justifiably or unjustifiably) was in doubt?

Paul,  Was the Ballet dancer in the Signals?  Whilst at Garats Hay in 54, there was a Ballet Dancer there at the same time. He had the Mickey taken quite often. Could it be the same one. Like you cannot remember the name.  Keith

guilt and regrets

Paul, I can understand your sentiments. Fortunately we now live in more enlightend and understanding times.
Bob Wells

Paul I think that the name of the young Ballet dancer was Higgins.

Indeed that was the same chap and as Bob rightly says he was 'Higgins'.
My Wife co-incidentally was in the Royal Ballet at the same time as him but cannot recall him, not surprising as we can't recall his Christian name.
I was told that whilst at Regt, either pre or post Langeleben the tormenting got so bad that he actually hit someone ( a cpl?) and must have done a prettyu good job since after that the teasing eased off.

I do not know how many balet dancers we may have had in the regiment but before I went to Langeleben in 1956 we had a dancer on our troop and I cannot remember his name but I do know that he hit a Cpl with an iron and was left alone after that.  Do you think it is the same person?

This is my first contribution. When I was at Langleben there was a young ballet dancer (Royal Signals )who was transported regularly to Brunswick to  practice his dancing.About 1956.
