Langeleben Standard

On the homepage there is a faximilie of the Langeleben Standard, I was wondering if there were any items such as ties or badges that incorporate this standard.  If not might it be an idea to have something along these lines commissioned?

Hello Tom, we do have a Langeleben Tie which encorporates the Konigslutter coat of arms and the Langeleben name and is available through contact with me, you will have to be quick because we only have seven left, it will cost you £10 + £1 p&p.

Hi Ernie and Tom,

Ernie, why is Tom using my name??? Is there more than one of us? Please get in touch Tom, we might have a common ancestor somewhere down the line.

Now I have got two of you to ask. Bob and Tom. When I was at 9 Sigs 63-66 there was a Sid Allum, had re-enlisted after being RAF in another life.  Came I believe originally from Manchester. Was he related to either of you? Gerry. Question

Bob Gerry & Ken, Tom Allum is our newest member, ( No 451,) only joined last week and is already getting into the swing of things. Knowing that Allum is an uncommon name I did ask Tom if he was related to Bob but he has declined to answer, is it something about the wrong side of the blanket, is he ashamed or perhaps there are hundreds of Allums skulking about, all with three letter christian names, who else knows an Allum? perhaps we have started something here, we can call it an Allumini.

Hi Tom, Dick Harry, Gerry and Bob, Why are we assuming that it is Tom from the wrong side of the blanket? just because he is the latest to join, it might well be that Bob has a darker side! Anyway, whatever, you are very welcome Tom, tell us a bit about yourself, when were you at Langeleben, were you a proper soldier, or one of the others? All the best. Dave T

Hi Gypo, No, far from it, I would never dare to insult one of the NAAFI staff, they serve the beer. Having spent many years sniping at the I Corps, I can't resist the odd dig now and again. Many are at the expense of Paul C, but he always gives as good as he gets, so I don't think much harm is done. If anyone feels slighted by what I say, I will withdraw it unreservedly. Glad to see you back on the site Clive, and I hope things a beginning to look brighter for you. All the best. Dave T.

Has any other of the forum readers noticed how when somebody starts an intellegent topic on the forum within two days we tend to veer off onto other subjects, it's like Chinese whispers and the end product bears no relation to the original subject.
I am not entirely blameless in this and must try to always keep to the subject matter. I also meant no affront to the Allums of this world, It is a name to be proud of and I am sure many worthy people carry it with esteem.
Now back to the original subject, who wants a Langeleben tie with the standard insignia?
Bill Lloyd

Ernie,

Just 'pencil' me in for the order of one tie at the present time.

I lent my tie to some Intelligence Corps chappie, who promised faithfully to return it with no soup stains, no beer stains, etc. but regret that there has been no sign of the postie with a little packet in his hand.

It could be be old age catching up with his memory cells, and we can but hope that this 'wonder pill' comes on the market soon and our I.C. friends' memories  are restored to normal. (Whatever that is!).

Watch this space!

Bill.
