Memorial Update

Hi Guys and Gals,

Just got in from a trip over the Elm, I called in the car park to have a look at the Stone. The car park was full, it's been a warm and sultry week here, so lots of people seeking the shady woodland paths around the Elm. There were plenty of people marvelling at our stone, which is still standing proudly to attention on it's spot in the sunlight.

Apart from some bird droppings, which I removed with a tissue, the Stone is in perfect condition. Looking good after eight weeks in situ.

Thank's for that John, I have wondered, but I have faith in the correctness and manners of the German psyche, the stone is too good to harm, one can only admire.

Good to hear everything is in order. Thanks John.

Thank you for the update John

Thanks JR, you must have had a warm glow of satisfaction standing there; 'A job well done'.
The dummy who was busy at the set is now working hard at Chicksands as a voice op in the Western Desert. I am not totally convinced that he is not the German spy Funf of Itma fame who has succeeded in entering one of the most secret places in Britain. Is anyone going to Chicksands on the Y Group outing there next month? If so, I will look forward to seeing you there.
By the way, JR, we are also hoping to re-use the display boards again shortly.

It is really quite amazing that no swasitkas or mindless graffiti have found their way on to the stone. The kids from the youth hostel have not found it necessary to proclaim in felt tip that "Siegfried loves Brunhilde". And even the ubiquitous Mr. Kilroy hasn't found Langeleben. Very Happy

I think the only warm glow I felt was on getting out of the air-conditioned car. Thanks to the depressions over the British Isles we have been basking in a southerly airstream which has channelled the warmth from the Mediterranean to us; while it has not been really hot (only around 30°), the humidity has been very high.  Cool

It has been good weather for the organisers of the various summer events taking place at the moment. Here in Wolfenbüttel it is the Schützenfest this weekend, we have a good view of the fireworks from our balcony. Then next weekend is the old town festival with music and much drinking in the narrow streets round the pedestrian precinct. After that the kids go back to school, and the summer is about over for Lower Saxony. Crying or Very sad

It is nice to know that there are no extra scrolls on it yet. Thanks John
