Remberence DayAre we having a presence at the remembrance day parade in London by any chance?

I was offered a place with the I Corps contingent but when I found out the length of time you hang around for I gracefully declined. Toilets and I are never far apart nowadays but I understand these are well catered for since it is a fairly basic requirement when there is a load of old blokes around.

Just something to think about.
The British lost 704,208 dead in the Great War. If they were to form up in 3 ranks and march at the standard Army speed of 120 thirty inch paces to the minute they would pass by the Cenotaph in one day,fifteen hours and seven minutes. For the French it would be three days, five hours and thirty-seven minutes and, the Germans four days, eighteen hours and sixteen minutes. I reckon this in total is 9 and a quarter days.
Rather salutory isn't it to think of it like this.
Other useless but interesting statistics too. Over 200 British Generals were killed, wounded or capture in WW1.So much for the version of the truth propagated by "Oh, what a Lovely War"
Over five million men passed through the ranks of the British Army. 2,300 were sentenced to death by military courts and not all for going AWOL or cowardice and ninety percent were pardoned. These programmes about pardoning those who were hanged or shot are rather missing the point.

Once again this year the Y Branch of The Royal British Legion held a service of remembrance at hte church of St May in the Elms at Woodhouse. The service was followed by a small parade and wreaths were laid at War Memorial beside the church.
Including myself there were other members of our association there.
