Eddie,
I am being particularly thick at the moment - I take it the reunion is only over the two nights of Friday and Saturday, and we all clear off on the Sunday morning?
Diane and I will be attending but I don't want to book extra nights......

Re-unionYour assumption is correct Bob, fri and sat night. I,m sure you would be welcome for other nights as well!!

Bob, I assume that for Eddie you mean Ernie, Gerry is right, most members have only booked for the two nights but being as the Monday is a bank holiday one or two have booked for the extra night.
We have 52 members and guests booked so far and I would expect to make the hundred so do keep them coming, only three month to go.

Reached the century to-day and still four weeks to go before we close the book on the Loughborough reunion, so if you still want to join us in May contact me ASAP.
We had bad news yesterday, one of our most faithful and popular members Paul (Lofty) Fildes died earlier in the week and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Pete wrote with the sad news, Ernie. Sadly, one less of the tent lot of the 50's. Any idea about the funeral? I presume it will be at Stockport or there abouts.
I promise that I will be there but still we are sorting this damned wedding out which is in Provence the week-end before. Definitely the Saturday evening and the AGM

Hi all. Being a virgin regarding the reunion, is there a dress code for the Saturday evening? I am being pestered by 'She who must be obeyed' who wants to know what to wear. HELP!!!

Dress CodeMisterbee, I would say smart casual. But if you look at photos in the Gallery that will tell the "boss" all she needs to know,

I daren't tell a woman what to wear especially with our members predilection for slopping beer all over the place, but I shall try, the best I can come up with is what she feels comfortable in, smartly casual, not too dressy, It's not Ladies night at a Masonic doo, (God I'm getting into trouble here, I'm way out of my depth)
As for you, being a virgin, I would suggest you wear as little as possible, your luck may well change before the end of the night.
A letter is on it's way to you giving more details.

Hello Ernie
At last all is clear. Please book me for the Friday PM , sadly a single room will suffice unless the hotel offers additional features not previously advertised. I will definitely be there for the AGM promoting strenuously that the Konigslutter re-union and the memorial should co-incide with the Schutzenfest if it is to be held.
On the subject of the memorial, will it be possible to have details in advance, say on the Friday evening so that we can discuss it between ourselves in advance of the meeting? Not everyone wants to get up on their hind legs and express a view and if they did we would be there till Saturday night. I am sure that you will already have something in mind and will forgive me for jumping the gun, somewhat.

2008Hi Ernie, Have just received the details of the 2008 reunion at Loughborough. Very informative, as it is my first, I have found it very useful. Many thanks Ernie. I know that this involved a lot of effort on your part. Much appreciated. See you at Loughborough. Keith
PS which do you prefer, whiskey or beer?

In case it was just an oversight on your part, "Yes, I'd love a drink. A red wine, please".
It will be 52 years since we last met.

Good Morning Paul, Looking forward to meeting up again after all these years. I will only be too pleased to share a glass (or two) with you. I would be please to buy an old I Corps comrade a drink. Keith

I only wish that all the names from the past who have appeared, partly as a result of the history, would turn up at both Langeleben but in particular Konigslutter, next year. Bill Taylor, Chris Gregory, Fred Sanderson, John Fortey ... the list goes on and on. We must have been a tough lot - perhaps it came from living in tents!
I have also met up with a load of Linguists with whom we never mixed at the time. We missed out!

Hi Keith,
I am a Whisky drinker in the winter and a Gin & tonic guy in the summer so it all depends on the reunion weekend weather, we do not seem to have seasons any more.
No booze for Croxson though, you I Corps chaps could never take your drink.
Looking forward to meeting you in May.

Looking forward to seeing you all there, I am sure that it will again be a very enjoyable weekend.

Reunion 2008Just to say that we have now closed the book on the Loughborough reunion 23-25 May, we have 115 members and guests attending over the weeked, a really great turnout. For those of you that wish to buy a Langeleben tie they will be available from the Friday night, remember best BD for the Saturday morning AGM.
