Is that a waltz or a Foxtrot you are playing Gordon? Takes me back to my Victor Sylvester days at the Hammersmith Palais (or have I missed the point?)

Goodness I too used to go to the Hammersmith Palais on my season ticket when I worked in London after coming back from Langeleben. What a small world Paul.

Here we go again, digressing, us poor east enders used the Tottenham Royal for our six pints, last dance and then try to take the girl home.
I'm sure that Samuel Morse didn't go to the Hammersmith Palais when he could shuffle to the music of Jack Payne and Jeff Rowena at the Royal.
Hammersmith was so far away from Hackney we used to go there for our holidays.

The unexpected musical turn that this topic has taken reminds me that the late Johnny Cash served for three years in a USA Air Force Security Service Unit at Landsberg, Germany, as a Russian morse code decoder, being honourably discharged in 1954. Cash claimed that the particular rhythms of Russian morse greatly influenced his music.

See Ernie,
Not really a digression at all.
How about Joe Loss (call me dead) and Ken Mackintosh? I've just thrown in the Streatham Locarno as well.
That was a very interesting piece of information Gordon. It should go down well if ever I am invited to a cocktail party. My Wife is a fan of Mr Cash, by the way.

Tottenham Royal, my, that's where young Gypo and I had our second date when he came down to Harlow for the first time. It's only 20 minutes away from us. I used to go there with my German friend Helga and we would pretend to be German speaking very little English. it was a really good laugh but very naughty.
