SkivingHi All, Good to see some of the old chatter returning to the site, thanks Mike, Marlene, Bill and Shorep. In deference to Tom I exclude him from this following generalization, but I’m sure all of us have employed one sort of subterfuge or another at some time in our lives. The Letters section of the Times has a couple of examples of favourite Skives. Mentioned are the obvious clip board and biro working day, and another mentioned playing sports and jointing the Signals players at Catterick Garrison as a way of avoiding work. I well remember volunteering for the single wicket cricket competition at Catterick just to get a day away from 11 Sigs. Mike and Shorep have already been forthcoming about their regular method of avoiding work, does anyone have any others? All the best, Dave T.

Dear sir, we are advised by our clients, Messrs Hudson and Shoreland that you are intimating scurrilous suggestion with regard to their work placement during their time at 225 Signal Squadon, Langeleben. My clients totally disassocite themselves from these allegations and will prove themselves to be of good standing and hard working. Their reputations have not been in question, apart from one allegation and they strenuosly deny this and all defromations of their character.
We shall be seeking a substantial amount in damages, at least one pint of Best Bitter, should they ever meet with your Goodself.
As a rider may we also add that that we also represent Ms Marlene, aka the NAAFI Snogger and any further attempts to get her to reveal all will need to be higher than previously offered.
Yours Faithfully,

Hi Mike, I shall be seeking redress shortly, however in the meantime I’ve just been chatting to Shorep on the 225 site, he was telling me some of the things you got up to. All the best Dave

Re: SkivingBest Bitter!! I am a lady! A good treble of vodka and cola with lots of ice for me please. Young Gypo on the other hand is more of a shandy man these days because of all the heart meds...mind you the odd whisky when he's not driving wouldn't go amiss!

OMG Dave, how much for the memoirs? That would be heavy reading I'm guessing.

SkivingOy Clivicus, tell 'Er' I did say that she would require a more substantial amount, at least a case of Stolinochya, or however you spell it. With regards to my memoirs at Scharf, they would make pretty boring reading, no sex, no violence, the only heavy breathing was on my 'Cross Country' runs, no 252's, no anything - I was careful and covered up well!!!

SkivingBLOODY CHEEKY BUGGER, Marlene, you had better take the 'Old Git' in hand and put his viagra or whatever on half strength.
I went through my Army career with no blemishes, two commendations, to mentions in the Wire and upon my departure to Civilian life, a truly excellent reference from Peter Baldwin.
My esteemed partner (in crime) and I believed inthe Commandment do unto others before they do it to you but keep it quiet and don't get found out. It worked

Re: SkivingEver the rebel my Clive was a bit of a stroppy soldier and he got made up once but they took his stripe back off him when he was a naughty boy again giving cheek to one of the officers who didn't like him. He just plodded along for 6 years enjoying giving service and having all his adventures. I love him to bits and that is still exactly as he is now, happy to plod along, faithful to his employer but won't toady or go all Euriah Heap on anyone, home or away.
I remember for instance one time he had target practice he told me and he pretended his small machine gun wouldn't work, he got a bit closer, no...then he blasted hell out of it!
