Thanks to all of you for the messages and for supporting my lovely wife during my recent scare.  I tell you I was scared as well.  I thought I could get away with it, all that smoking I mean, but it got me in the end and twice in the past few short weeks I have been in A&E gasping for breath.  That last time scared the pants off me.  I thought I was done for.  Marlene sat with me all night at the hospital and there were times that night I thought I wouldn't make it.  Well I am one of the lucky ones.  It isn't cancer but if I take another drag I am done for for sure.  And what a way to go, gasping for breath like I was.  So I am now officially a non smoker.  My condition is medically 'severe,' I have a heap of tablets and 3 inhalers and an oxygen tank by the side of the bed.  Haven't needed it since that night, but it's a reminder of what is in store if I go back to smoking.  I'm told even that won't help if I continue to light up.

I have also been told to apply for a blue badge and the boss has agreed to me doing light duties from now on and just 3 days a week.  Went back to work this week.

Marlene has been great through all this, don't know what I would do without her, I struck gold all them years ago when she agreed to take me on.

So again thanks, especially to Robbie (who stole me plimsolls) McCallum for the chat on the phone and the card from him and Joyce.

Have a great weekend at the reunion, never know your luck, might be fit enough to join you next year.  Can't march, can't drink, can't smoke, but who cares so long as we have our health.

Cheers one and all
Clive

Well done. The only help I can offer is what I was told
"!Giving up smoking has never killed anyone". That got me through the difficult times - and they will be there.
