Whilst researching the history of the I Corps and the 'Y' Service I came across a very interesting document in the I Corps Museum dated 1944. It refers to '101' in the retreat inFrance in 1940, then Greece and then Crete and finally getting to Egypt. Unfortunately the document is labelled "SECRET" from 1944. I have asked for it to be de-classified.
Anyone else have any knowledge of these periods in its history please?????
Can anyone explain why Freyburg was not court martialled and reduced to the ranks for his utter incompetence in Crete? Interestingly I came across a not eto the effect that Churchill used to invite him round for a swim and pass a happy time counting his scars (funny what pleases/turns on some people) of which there were many from his heroics leading to VC's
ps It still has not been de-classified. The Nazis must be furious!

Hello Paul,
The unit you refer to was 101 Special Wireless Section not Troop.
After Egypt they went to Malta and then back into Europe.

No you can't Tom!
As they used to say on the Morecombe & Wise Show
"There's no answer to that"
Your posting demanded a reply which bu..ered up your attempt at a record. Sorry about that. I have kept very quiet recently and it shows.
